Hot Melt:
CLEANING OPERATIONS
A false problem.
HMPUR adhesive is supplied in solid state and stored in metal drums.
In order to be used, it has to be melt by means of a special melter. When level sensors mounted on the rolls coater detect glue lack, the liquid glue is transferred onto the rolls coater from the melter through heated pipes and feeding guns.
At the end of every working day, rolls coater must be accurately cleaned, but this operation is very simple and fast using a special cleaner supplied by the glue manufacturers.
A collecting tank to receive cleaning waste is placed under the spreading rolls and glue remained on the machine is discharged with a reverse rotation.
Cleaner is put onto the rolls turning in the right direction; glue mixed with cleaner become more liquid and gradually losts its adhesiveness.
After some minutes another reverse rotation is needed and wastes are discharged in the collecting tank.
The same operation must be repeated for a total of two or three times.
Then, dosing and spreading rolls must be dried with a clean cloth and the lateral sealing plates must be removed; at the beginning of the next working day, the glue cured on the sealing plates can be easily removed (they are Teflon covered).
Cleaning operations takes a time of about 15 minutes.
